So, for my family and, I’m sure, the families of many disabled young people, it is delightful to see the BBC supportA spin-off from, the 2016 drama about a family learning to live with their son’s autism, it follows the titular newlyweds as they fight for autonomy in a world of helicopter parenting, kind but clueless neighbours and emotions they don’t always understand.
It’s an idyllic picture of what life can look like for adults with Down’s Syndrome if they don’t need 24-hour support and happen to reside in their family’s “spare” cottage in a picturesque Cumbrian town. Though elements of Ralph and Katie are familiar, it’s also worth noting that it’s a best-case scenario.
the condition is called down syndrome and not just downs. As a writer for a paper I would have thought youd have researched the right language. Also able bodied isn't language that used these days either.
It's just two people madly in love who just happen to have down syndrome.
