Jack Gregory, 14, from Rainhill has been described as a happy and healthy teenager by family friend and football coach, Tony Gill. Tony said Jack’s mum, Claire, noticed a rash on his body and decided to take Jack to Whiston Hospital, last Thursday, to get him checked out.
Tony told the ECHO: "He has played football for me since he was five and recently started boxing at Stockbridge ABC. Only two weeks ago he had a boxing match in the Isle of Wight and won. Jack plays football for Stockbridge Junior Football team, which Tony manages. The 38-year-old said that Jack is a “real character” and the "joker of the team".
"Over the last couple of weeks, he said he was suffering from cramps but we thought it was because he does boxing and football three times a week."
