A mother has been slammed for claiming Tesco put her children at risk of kidnap after a homeless person offered to return her trolley for £1.
She suggested the homeless might ‘assault or rob’ customers and begin stealing their shopping, or even their children.She was soon branded an ‘utter turnip’ and a ‘dreadful human being’, with one commenter saying they would ‘rather be homeless than anything like her’. Toni’s complaint read: ‘So I went to Tesco in Slough and when leaving walked past a homeless lady. She asked for money, we politely declined.‘We reached my car and started loading our shopping and the baby to be approached by a “homeless man” at my car who was asking for change to get some food.
‘Everything loaded as quick as we could because small baby, lots of shopping and some random guy harassing us at our car is very alarming.

More is needed from the government for those genuinely in need and more is needed to stop those milking people’s generosity - ultimately though this woman went way too far and should consider how she would feel in the same scenario 3/3
What is ultimately a terrible situation. Not helped by the high proportion of fakers who have houses and are paid for by the state (at least 3 at my local Morrison’s). I have complete sympathy for genuine homeless people but 2/3
There is a valid question of whether giving someone who begs outside of a supermarket everyday money really helps them long term or just facilitates no ambition to get out of 1/2
