Hoad's Wood in Kent has become a popular spot for the illegal dumping of wasteA historic wildlife haven transformed into a 'disgusting' rubbish tip with mountains of waste piled 12ft high could cost £10m to clean, it has been revealed.
The Environment Agency has been working with Kent Police's rural task force to catch those who dumped the rubbish, but nobody has been charged yet. 'The stench of rotting eggs filled the atmosphere. I felt like I was being slowly poisoned with each breath.One Ashford resident added: 'Honestly, I had never seen anything like it. It's disgusting.
'Someone needs to be held responsible for this and people need to be made aware of what is happening in our woods.'
