Driver shortage will raise prices, warns MorrisonsThe supermarket chain and its rivals have seen gaps on shelves due to the lorry driver shortage. It costs £3k+ to train and get a lorry licence, I've yet to see all these screaming about driver shortage advertise for trainees! Bus sector offers to train drivers so why can't the haulage industry? Instead they want cheap labour with licences from abroad. They're one of the most expensive now. Avoid them you get more for your money elsewhere. I’m sure if some of the companies requiring HGV drivers paid people to train for and complete their licence then people would be interested. They’d rather employ people with licenses already, there isn’t a surplus of these people.
