“It logically follows that a rise in the detained population will result in a rise in those that are considered vulnerable, particularly when the policy includes those who self-declare to be adults at risk,” the equality impact assessment says. It came as ministers denied that thousands of asylum seekers identified for deportation to Rwanda had gone missing, despite a Home Office document stating that only 2,143 out of the 5,700 people identified for removal to the East African nation “continue to report to the Home Office and can be located for detention”.that the Home Office is “used to this” and law enforcement agencies have “a range of measures” to find and remove people who are not reporting as required.
