More travel chaos expected as train drivers vote to strike over pay dispute

More than 6,000 TSSA rail union members at Network Rail have voted for strike action - and action short of a strike - in a dispute over pay, conditions and job security.

As well as TSSA members, members of the ASLEF train drivers' union at eight train companies voted "overwhelmingly" to take industrial action over a pay dispute. "Strikes are always the last resort," said Mick Whelan, general secretary of ASLEF, the train drivers’ union. "It’s not unreasonable to ask your employer to make sure you’re not worse off for three years in a row.

Good luck to the train drivers/operators they deserve every penny. I want my train driver to have one job, not moonlighting and tired. Nurses do not have the safety of 5 to 600 people at once. I want them to have fair pay as well.

Yea boo Hoo , £60k a year plus benefits for drivers to drive driverless trains ., how many years training to become a nurse or a teacher . And how many minutes training to drive a train 🚞. Bring on the agency drivers ! Enough is enough now

Rail and air line are the worst service and cramped seatings

The seats are rubbish in trains with no lumbar support and very low seats and they charge enormous amount money for tickets and air con don’t work, pls close it down it’s a disservice and ripp off

The picture says it all = crowded cramped like rats on top of each other, like 3rd world countries rail

Except for rail passengers in Scotland as rail strikes now averted as Aslef have accepted a 5% rise. Is it just London/Angli-centric news you do?
