'More masks than jellyfish': coronavirus waste ends up in ocean

Conservationists have warned that the coronavirus pandemic could spark a surge in ocean pollution – adding to a glut of plastic waste that already threatens marine life – after finding disposable masks floating like jellyfish and waterlogged latex gloves scattered across seabeds.

Reusable masks are significantly better.

😔 not surprising. I’ve seen so many masks and gloves dropped on the floor randomly where I live in London.

Why is this in the sea? It can't be too hard to trace the source

Why doesnt someone like Dyson invent a safe large home shredder we can put some quite tough stuff through (not bodies 🤪) before putting things like this in our bins - bit like those things that chop branches up
