Monty Don gives simple hack for sorting out lawn drainage

Gardener’s World presenter Monty Don has issued advice on his blog for March - and said the lawn is an area which needs tackling. In his latest post the 68-year-old says that now is the time to take the plunge and mow it for the first time but warned ‘do not cut it too short.’

Monty said: “Put your efforts into healthy grass rather than fighting perceived ‘problems’ like daisies, moss, ants, worm-casts, moles, plantains, dandelions and fairy rings. Nine times out of ten if the grass is healthy then everything else will look after itself.
