Microplastics are increasingly found in drinking water, but there is no evidence so far that this poses a risk to humans, according to a new assessment by the World Health Organization.
Strange editorial decision to use this headline when the body of the text states that more research is needed, suggesting no conclusions have been reached. Gets more like the 'Metro' every day.
I'll continue to filter my drinking water thanks. Better safe than sorry. The report states 'scant data available', 'insufficient information to draw firm conclusions' & 'a better understanding of overall exposure' being needed. Doesn't convince me microplastics aren't harmful
PISH
Still It can't be an excuse 😒
Humans aren’t the only species on the planet.
If the stomach acids don't break down and digest the microplastics, that's probably true. We ingest trace amounts of more inedible substances (e.g. sand) than we would want to imagine.
We are literally shitting plastic and peeing Roundup. None of this is good for us.
Could it come from the plastic bottles they are stored in? 🤔
LOL what a ton of Total Rubbish but then again no surprise once you start digging into who & what Exactly the WHO / UN / UNESCO REALLY is
Stop polluting the ocean we need to band together as a species to globally ban plastic for the good of our ecosystem and the precious sea life
Bollocks...
Let’s hope so. environment
Let me guess the plastics industry told them to call it “fiberous”
Well, “no evidence so far” and “the UN body cautions more research is needed” are things people should read more carefully. None of which proves or disproves anything. Yes, plastic is bad—but it *could* also be harmless in our digestive system. We still don't know.
Say what...?
Gee, I'm going out on a limb here and assume some money from the plastics industry changed hands on this one. How can it be possible that a substance killing sealife all over the world, made from indigestible chemical leaching material, can be consumed by humans with no harm?
😂
Japan is trying to make scapegoats for the safety and lives of some of the world's most talented athletes to gloss over the radiation disaster. Play in radioactively contaminated areas, feed on radioactive agricultural and fisheries products. What a bizarre country Japan is.
But are micro plastics dangerous to sea plants or sea animal species
It works this way, all humans have a weakness its called excess anything in excess is bad short of that our bodies do a pretty good job of flushing out whats not supposed to be in there. Build up of plastic particles will sure as hell cause problems over time see the cancer rates
Sounds sensible. It’s only carbon and what we don’t digest we eject. The problem in the animal world is creatures chewing chunks of the stuff and blocking their passages.
Hmm
I am so happy now that I can 'drink' as much plastic as I wish :-)
Bullshit!
*Moments later*
Fuck humans - plastic in every sodding ecosystem going is crap for every species without an investment in it so let's just cut that shit out, shall we!!
whoever did that should drink some
I say it's Marketing and has nothing to Do With Human Health Well-being! Pure Hypocrisy!!!
Of course they're not harmful In fact, give em 12 months, and a Tory health think tank will let us know that microplastics are so good, they're gonna deliberately add them to the water supply to give us the energy to work to 75
Aren't these the same people who said being an incel was a disability?
