Martin O’Grady’s dad suddenly died on the day of his dinner reservation at the Michelin Star restaurant
He said restaurant staff at the AA Hospitality Awards’ Restaurant of the Year, said the payment was non-refundable, leaving the bereaved diner feeling ‘compelled to share his horrifying story’.However, restaurant manager Daniel Smith told Mr O’Grady criticised managers’ responses as ‘inhumane behaviour’ in a Facebook post: ‘I am doing something I’ve never done before – leaving a poor review as a result of an appalling experience at a restaurant…
‘He received a recital of nonsense about terms and conditions and that our dinner date could neither be refunded nor changed to a later date. We were not seeking a refund.
The Fordwich Arms, in Kent. Wow, doesn't take much to be a little bit human. Shame shame shame
Waste of money.
Disgusting 😡
While I understand the restaurant has overheads, I think, under these circumstances, they should have been offered an alternative date. Their dad died, for goodness sake!
I think “Inhumane behaviour” is a bit of a over exaggeration from the restaurants perspective they could just be saying this as a excuse. Chances are they get such reasons for cancellation quite often, someone I used to work with phones in sick cause her mam died 4 times so
Why spend that much on a meal ?
