The radio station is said to have stopped playing music from the late singer – who passed away in 2009 aged 50 – ahead of the release of documentary Leaving Neverland, which details new child sex abuse claims.
It’s being reported that the decision to not to have any of the Thriller singer’s hit songs played on the station was made last week.It must be noted that the Radio 2 playlist mainly focuses on new music and Jackson has not released new work since his 2014 posthumous album Xscape.saying: ‘We consider each piece of music on its own merits and decisions what we play on different network are always made with relevant audiences and context in mind.
Throwing their support behind the star, who died in 2009, the Jackson family – Tito, Marlon, Jackie and Taj – told CBS that ‘naivety was his downfall’. MJ’s cousin Taj, who said he was there at the ‘sleepovers’ with the star, added: ‘To the outside world, yes, I think it can be odd. I mean, I’m not oblivious to what it sounds like… I grew up in it, so for me it wasn’t odd.
