The Tory MP Michael Fabricant has apologised for suggesting many teachers and nurses enjoyed a “quiet drink” at the end of the day in staff rooms during lockdown.
I know one shouldn't judge on appearances but I find it hard to take what anyone who looks like that, says seriously.

He hasn't withdrawn the statement , just offered the standard Tory apology , saying sorry if my comments ( which I implicitly am standing by ) caused ' offence '. The word ' offence ' is routinely ridiculed and attacked as a symbol of ' weak liberalism' .
He apologised but still says the few that did... He doesn't get it and he's not sorry, he's worried about the elections.

If a nurse had a drink in the staffroom, that nurse would be sacked. As would that teacher. In almost all places of work, consuming alcohol on the premises is gross misconduct. Can be sacked for having alcohol in the car at my place of work, these charlatans need to be gone!
