reported that the club’s future plans still included the Mets’ general manager Billy Eppler. The firings along with the handling of the transformative trade deadline showcased Cohen’s trust in Eppler. The biggest name connected to the Mets’ pursuit of a new president of baseball operations has long been David Stearns, the former
president of baseball operations who stepped down to an advisory role after last season. Stearns is a New York City native.Lebow had just received a promotion last year and worked with the club within pro scouting since 2011. Howard joined the Mets in 2021 as director of player development and transitioned to major-league assistant hitting coach in May 2021 before returning to his role in 2022. Hayes had just been promoted to his role last year and worked within the organization for 13 years.
