A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office for large parts of the UK today . The warning is in force from 1pm until 9pm.
The Met Office warned that “thunderstorms and heavy downpours may cause flooding and travel disruption. It says people should anticipate “difficult driving conditions and some road closures” due to spray and sudden flooding.Forecasters added that “there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services” and “a slight chance that power cuts could occur”. It warns that there’s a small chance of flash flood, and a danger to life from fast flowing or deep floodwater.
Forecasting for the UK today, the Met Office said: “Sunny spells and heavy showers will develop across most of the UK today, some of these heavy and slow moving with the odd rumble of thunder. Cloudier in the southeast with heavy and persistent rain. Feeling warm in any sunshine.”
