The Met Office has revealed what weather we can expect over the Christmas period and if it will be a white Christmas for people across the UK. While Nottinghamshire largely escaped heavy downpours this weekend, heavy rain and strong winds battered parts of the UK. Now .
Across the country, as reported by The Mirror, the Met Office, which had denied a Beast from the East is coming this week, issued yellow warnings for rain in parts of Wales, parts of Scotland and areas in southern England until 3am this morning.Its long-range forecast into late December says the UK is likely to get more settled weather with average temperatures for the time of year.
It says: "Confidence remains low for this period. Conditions are expected to be more settled than of late, with the potential for high pressure to be located close to the UK, at least at first. Meanwhile further rain is expected across southeast England on Sunday with blustery showers in Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Forecasters can't predict, accurately, what the weather is going to be 3 hrs ahead so I won't hold my breathe.
'For those hoping a white Christmas, at this stage there is no mention of snow in the long-range forecast - only overnight frost and fog.' So that picture's not a great choice!
