Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fear they will lose their influence if they step out of the limelight, according to one royal expert.
Mr Dampier's comments come after Harry, 39, and Meghan, 41, announced they would be taking "parental leave" following the birth of their daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4, 2021. Explaining their actions, he told The Sun: "I thought they were supposed to be lying low for five months, it was suggested they were going to take five months off to look after their young family – I don’t think it’s been anything like five months.
He continued: "The Queen always said 'I need to be seen to be believed' and the same thing applies to Harry and Meghan. If they haven’t actually got a public profile and people aren’t seeing them they could quickly be forgotten about which clearly they don’t want. They will probably feel they need to get out there."
