Following on from some killer book-to-TV adaptations , much-loved, heartbreaking David Nicholls novel One Day is getting the Netflix treatment, and it's coming to screens this week. The series will drop on Thursday – and we can't wait. It'll be interesting to see how it differs and overlaps with the 2011 movie rendition, starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Nicholls wrote the screenplay for the film, and will be an executive producer on the Netflix outing.

Essie Davis plays Alison Essie plays the role of Dex's chic mum to absolute perfection. She has some corker lines when it comes to putting him in his place and pushing him to be a better man.
