Race Across the World is back on BBC One, and among the five teams of two are Londoner Eugenie and her daughter Isabel. The contestants will be pushed to their physical and emotional limits as they leave behind smartphones, internet access and bank cards to cross six seas and eight borders from northernmost Japan.Eugenie, 60, hails from Barking and is a teacher, while her daughter Isabel, 25, from Birmingham, is a trainee clinical scientist.
"They think it's a crazy idea, given what Mum's like when it comes to things like direction, navigation and things like that, so they thought it was a bit random." "She doesn't believe me, nobody believes me," Eugenie shared, revealing the family's skepticism about her navigational skills. Curious about the show, Eugenie asked: "So I asked her, 'What is Race Across the World?' She said, 'You need to watch it,' so I started watching it and got really excited and thought, 'Yes, I'd love to be on that,' and filled in the application. So, really, the starting point was Isabel."
