The Queen is being kept under medical supervision at Balmoral after her doctors expressed concern about her health, Buckingham Palace announced on 8 September.
The Queen has suffered a number of health setbacks over recent months and has missed several events due to mobility issues. Professor Sir Huw's honour, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order is the personal gift of the monarch. Working alongside Professor Sir Huw Thomas for the royals is Serjeant Surgeon Satya Bhattacharya, who is a medic with over 20 years worth of experience as a consultant surgeon.
