McLaren principal Andreas Seidl said teams could not agree on Safety Car finishes after Abu Dhabi, so cases like Monza must just be accepted. F1

In the wake of the Italian Grand Prix, McLaren boss Andreas Seidl has revealed teams could not agree on the correct procedure after Abu Dhabi 2021.

The sport saw a similar ending last time out at Monza, with the race this time ending behind the Safety Car. But, while the outcome was not nearly as consequential, the way the race concluded has been criticised by team principals and fans. “After what happened last year in Abu Dhabi, there were a lot of discussions between FIA, Formula 1 and all the teams involved in order to see how the rules could be modified in order to make sure that races never end under a Safety Car,” Seidl said after the race, as per Motorsport.com.

Red flag and restart. It’s the only way!

No real F1 fan wants a race to finish under safety car

should’ve red flag the race imo

they should just take a look at the nascar overtime system. its so easy.

The late-race safety car issues F1 still needs to fix to move on from Abu DhabiOPINION: Formula 1’s safety car rules were thankfully followed in full at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix, but the situation reignited the controversy of the ending to the 2021 campaign in Abu Dhabi and left neutral fans without a teased grandstand finish. This then, is the perfect time to discuss alternatives to a much-maligned situation Nauckas 'I've got Lewis on line 1!' Nauckas Nobody is owed a grandstand finish. Race Control focus on safety and then they focus on preserving the gaps or very least positioning for fairness. The best way to do that yesterday was to end the race under Safety Car, correct decision. Nauckas The only way to move on from Abu Dhabi is to correct the results and void the illegitimate laps. That is the only way. Nothing else will suffice
