The PM’s angry refusal to countenance any plan but her own has left her petulant, defiant and doomed, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

Attempting to turn voters’ anger against parliament is the dangerous and despicable act of a prime minister thrashing around in her terminal desperation. Tantamount to calling for insurrection against democracy, the only saving grace of her extraordinary late-night eruption of bad temper was its futility. Unlikely to gain traction with the people, she lost yet more respect from her own MPs.

An opinion based on an assumption carries little weight since it might or it might not be a true representation of the truth. It is a fact that she has strongly defended her Brexit deal but no one can say for certain that she has undermined the views of those who have theirs!

Wow. Nails it

Uninspiring speech by PM last night. A desperate politician indeed!

When are they gonna bag this scrotumface? Come on already

Is that headline correct? I would have thought 'a desperate act of a dangerous politician to be more accurate' Maybot MayMustGoNow MayMustGo BrexitChaos BrexitShambles StopBrexitSaveDemocracy StopBrexitSaveBritain MayOut MayOutNow PeoplesVote PeoplesVoteNow

May is the only serious person on this “smarty bullshit” that Brexit is! Ireland can’t have a border... and free commerce with EU at the same time. So being Ireland an UK problem, solve it before EXIT! You have 100ye

MPs r to blame. They’ve known for months that this day would come. theresa_may was always running down the clock. She tacked towards long extension and threats of no Brexit but ERG refused to bite. Her only hope is to scare UKLabour to vote for her deal pollytoynbee Did nothing

Starmer ill-advised Corbyn, it was right for Corbyn to attend. Outrageous that May supported Chuka's trespass. From what I've read via bbc/sky/tabloids, the focus is on discrediting Corbyn and mitigating May's role in supporting Chuka's trespass.

thanks you follow ideas we give you ;)

Most importantly, what's up with that haircut? It looks like a bowl had sex with a jellyfish. Secondly, she's starting to sound a lot like a familiar butthead we all know and hate

Fantastic and fair analysis.

How exactly have the MPs been helpful? They clearly don't want to be accountable to the people without being able to blame problems on the EU.

She's a disaster. Cares more about her legacy and her party than the actual outcome for the country. This brinksmanship is going to take decades to remedy, if at all.

Opinion: Why the choice to publish the Christchurch attack video is potentially very dangerousA mass murder, presented through the murderer’s eyes, like something from a computer game. By turns horrifying, glorifying and somehow sanitising the deaths of 49 innocent people No censorship whatsoever. I take it Will Gore watched it Too late, and ridiculous. It was live, many saw it Inc me, so whether you post later is pretty much defunct.
