The actress says comedians fear being cancelled due to their jokes - but comedians we've spoke to disagree.

Dame Maureen Lipman has said comedy is in danger of being "wiped out" due to fears over being cancelled.

YouGov questioned 1,677 people in mid November to find out their views on what's become known as "cancel culture". The less politically correct the views held, the more likely people were to say they feel shouted down. It's a dramatic prediction. "Something has to be forbidden to make you laugh, really belly laugh. It's when you shouldn't be laughing," she said. "All the things that have been cancelled out by being correct are, I'm afraid, all the things that make people laugh."

He told me it's "complete nonsense" that comedians are sacrificing being funny because they don't want to be cancelled.

Nah , comedians are like anything. Subjective if you like them. There are some that are family friendly and those who ain't. Some I find deeply unfunny and aren't for me. Being censored sometimes is a crock if *lala'

Spoken!

'Nah, not a thing!' Jason Manford weighs in on Maureen Lipman's cancel culture fearsJASON MANFORD has weighed in on Maureen Lipman's opinion that comedy could be 'wiped out' by cancel culture. It's strange how the terminally offended can be upset by a non-PC joke but effing and Jeffing doesn't bother them. Same with Tik-Tok. God forbid a boob should be shown but effing and c-ing, no problem. Odd world.
