Matt Hancock has signalled that four-hour waiting targets for A&E are likely to be scrapped for the NHS in England after the worst figures on record this winter.

Can't miss your targets if there aren't any
So we’re going to remove the only comparator we have to know whether MattHancock is improving things or not..... Thought Dominic Cummings was all about data, maths & quantum - surely he knows that everything needs to be measured & in the same UOM. obfuscation must be the reason!
So if the measures aren't appropriate, propose a replacement that is! People will ultimately deliver what they are being measured against.also what is being done to keep none 'accident' and none 'emergency' out of a and e? what are they doing to address root causes?
My car is making some terrible noises this morning! No problem I'll do a Hancock Turn the F**king radio up ToryScam
He will probably remove mortality rates as well
Reading this just makes me think what we've always known this Government will encourage by default those who can afford it toward private health. The less well off and poor will use NHS whats left of it. Remind you of anything? America, and of course wealthy shareholders.
Can't meet the target? Get rid of it. And these are so called professionals. We are paying them to act like children
If you can’t beat them, scrap them!
Self regulation next.
Instead of keep talking about it and saying its likely to happen... just do it
Obviously. It’s the Tory way. A TV interview would make you look bad? Dodge it. A target would show up your poor record? Change the metrics to ones that are more favourable, and if you can’t do that, scrap the target altogether.
BREAKING: Newcastle Utd set to remove goalposts from all remaining fixtures.
That’s a bad move. I have managed A/E departments and it’s important to have something to keep things moving or we just go back to the old days of patients being stuck even more than they are now.
We keep failing so we are going to scrap the targets so we no longer fail them... classic cooking the books strategy.
Only reason this is a good thing is that EDs will no longer be fined for missing the 4 hour window. That window needs to stay (clinical need should be the only exception)
That's one way to stop missing them.🙄 Another hopeless idea,.
Because hospitals are ramping nearly every day! Too many people and not enough hospitals. Those hospitals that are around have closed beds so they won’t take patients because they CANT AFFORD STAFF! Especially in Australia!!!!!!

If only the Conservatives would stop worrying about independence from the EU and focus on the day job
FFS. Here we go. The facist state is coming.
Well of course Matt Hancock wants to scrap the A&E targets his NHS can’t meet 🤦🏻♀️
Couple this with Johnson setting up a film company for the government and personal photographer now on the payroll its full on ministry of disinformation propaganda ready to roll.
That man is a true tory loves to lie all the time.
Can’t miss targets if you’ve got none
ToriesOut AnotherWorldIsPossible
Without targets, A & E units will be no go places unless you are dying. It's the last place I want to be anyway.
When I was in A&E, after 4 hours they moved me to a ward to sit on a chair so they could meet their 4 hour target. But I was there 10 hours.
In his defence, there’s no point having a target if your never going to achieve it.
This is what voters in former mining towns want!
Coming Through...
You voted for this shower of shite
That's one way of getting numbers down. Just scrap the targets and pretend there is no crisis.
Bare in mind that this comes on the heels of the NHS having its WORST EVER A&E performance numbers. God, they are fucking shameless.
The fact that A&E waiting times under 4 hours is even a 'target' is a disgrace. It should be under 1 hour in a wealthy country that cares about its citizens. Gov. Showing it doesn't care.
Take away the targets and there will other employable methods to measure the benchmarks. Ultimately it will cost more to gather that information, stupid idea.
How very typical, ' crisis, what crisis '. 💩
BBCPolitics So what he is saying is that if the NHS can’t meet even its fundamental targets then we had better scrap the targets & then there is no evidence of the shambolic state that this government has put it in A decade in power & still won’t take responsibility Get a grip!
NaziBritain
Can’t miss a target that doesn’t exist.
Who knows which hospital will be first to receive £350 millions in first week of February, pls?
Given the proportion of A&E admissions due to alcohol-related injuries and illness (c.70% at weekends, around 15% other times) it’s time to address this scourge on our society. Introduce fines for patients whose reckless behaviour has led them to A&E +reinvest the money in NHSuk
The nasty party in action , would love to see them wait in an AE corridor
Like saying the train getting later and later was never part of the timetable
Q: What do you do if your organisation is failing to meet its mandatory minimum performance targets? A: Abolish the targets of course!
Remove or change targets thereby making year on year comparisons impossible, thereby removing evidence of failing. Stupid.
Well that's one way to avoid missing them.
