If you thought that cleaning your wooden spoon thoroughly was as easy as lathering up a sponge and quickly scrubbing it with Fairy Liquid, you would be wrong.
In a Facebook post, seen by news.com.au, the woman explained that she carried out a hack for cleaning spoons that she had learnt from former MasterChef judge Matt Preston a few years back. She soaked her spoon in boiling water and the results were “revolting”. She then shared a snap of the spoon in a container filled with yellowing and very dirty-looking water, which looked to be filled with oil particles.Alongside the picture, the woman wrote: “Does anyone soak their wooden spoons in boiling water? Mine always go into the dishwasher every night but that doesn’t stop what gets absorbed. Revolting really.
MasterChef judge Matt, who is also an acclaimed food critic and author, first shared this trick back in 2016 in Delicious magazine. He explained that the real test for wooden spoon cleanliness was to put them in boiling water.
