Farris marched from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 as well as the March Against Fear in 1966 in Mississippi, among other major civil rights movements events.
She served as a founding board member of the nonprofit organization that Coretta Scott King started after her husband was assassinated.: ‘I love you and will miss you, Aunt Christine.’ Farris was born in Atlanta and attended Spelman College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in economics. She earned two master’s degrees in education from Columbia University.
