The Greenock actor, 38, will star in Mayflies alongside Extras and After Life star Ashley Jensen and Outlaw King's Tony Curran.

With filming kicking off in Glasgow and Ayrshire this autumn, Martin and Ashley, 53, have now been spotted in a pub in Govan.READ MORE: New BBC drama starring Martin Compston to begin filming in Glasgow They wrote:"Exciting times last week when we had some filming going on with Martin Compston & Ashley Jensen!!"

The series is based on the novel of the same name by author Andrew O'Hagan, and will be produced b the team behind The Cry, Synchronicity Films. It follows two best friends and is described as"a story of enduring male friendship with love, truth, tenderness and a searing humanity."
