A married police officer strangled his lover to death after she used his phone to send a text message to his wife saying ‘I’m cheating on you’, a court heard.
Richard Smith QC, prosecuting, said Mrs Parry had set up a fake Facebook profile to research Brehmer’s past and had become convinced that he had been seeing at least two other women. He added: ‘Claire Parry was facing what she might have thought was the impending end of her marriage and the realisation that the man she had been having an affair with for years was perhaps not the man she thought he was at all and not a man who was likely to set up with her.’Jurors were told that a note was found on Mrs Parry’s phone written two days before her death and addressed to Brehmer’s wife, Martha, also a police officer.
