Mark Strong has revealed how he nearly starred into have turned down the role of Stannis Baratheon on the HBO fantasy series, taking up a role on AMC remake Low Winter Sun in 2013 instead.about his rumoured connections with the show, Mark confirmed he had been offered a role on Game Of Thrones but didn’t want to reveal the character’s identity.
‘I was offered a role in it but I can’t ever say who it was,’ Mark said. ‘Because I don’t want to belittle the person who eventually did it because they may have no idea they weren’t first choice.’Asked if he turned the role down, Mark added: ‘No it came my way and we were flirting a while with it, but I didn’t have to turn it down.’While it’s an elusive answer, it could possibly indicate he was pipped to the role by another actor, despite being offered it first.still a hotly contested topic.
