American racing legend Mario Andretti has taken a swipe at Toto Wolff amid opposition to Andretti's bid to enter F1, suggesting the Mercedes boss holds too much power in the sport

Ex-F1 star Mario Andretti has taken a swipe at Toto Wolff, suggesting the Mercedes boss holds too much power in the sport.

Andretti submitted paperwork outlining their intent to establish a new F1 team in 2024 to the FIA in February, but there has been no significant progress since. Responding to a suggestion that Wolff is ‘too powerful’, Andretti, who was F1 world champion in 1978, tweeted: “This needed to be said; it’s about time.”

"I think that whoever joins as the 11th team, whoever gets an entry, needs to demonstrate how creative they can be for the business,” Wolff explained.

The returning fan car revolution that could suit F1Gordon Murray's Brabham BT46B 'fan car' was Formula 1 engineering at perhaps its most outlandish. Now fan technology has been successfully utilised on the McMurtry Speirling at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, could it be adopted by grand prix racing once again? I believe the risk of rocks flying and hitting the driver behind is too big. A go cart with big tires and a fan does not a race car make!

Wolff: F1 cannot risk "NFL situation" by doing nothing on porpoising'It's a medical question that needs to be answered' 🗣️ MercedesAMGF1 team boss Toto Wolff believes the FIA cannot risk having an 'NFL situation' by ignoring the potential safety issues with porpoising ⬇️ MercedesAMGF1 The FIA just have to say the car can't porpoise, just like they say the wings can't flex. They don't have to say how a team achieves that. But his basic point is right. It is a medical issue for the long term neurological health of drivers. MercedesAMGF1 🎻 MercedesAMGF1 Surely the idea is to engineer your car so it doesn't damage your drivers.

F1 cannot risk "NFL situation" by not acting on porpoising - WolffF1 cannot risk an 'NFL situation' by doing nothing on the dangers of porpoising, according to Mercedes boss Wolff. 'Frequencies of one or two hertz over several minutes can lead to long-term brain damage. We have six to seven hertz over several hours.' Fix. Your. Car. Toto. I've barely seen it happening at all since Canada. It’s shameful that toto is talking all of this stuff and yet still makes his drivers endure it by not fixing their car or by being more focused on getting the occasional podium than his drivers health. 3rd in the constructors is garuntee for them. The can’t get 2nd.
