Manchester's best restaurants, bars, chef and venues named

The cream of Manchester's restaurants, bars, venues and inspiring individuals were honoured at the annual This is Manchester Awards. Winners were chosen for their "unique contribution to the city" and presented at a glittering awards dinner held at Emirates Old Trafford.

Hosted by Jenny Powell and Scott Thomas, winners included Manchester stars from across the realms of fashion, entertainment, sports, hospitality, property and community heroes. The event was attended by a wealth of famous faces including Christine McGuinness, TV and radio star Brooke Vincent and presenter Scott's actor brothers Ryan Thomas and Adam Thomas.

Entries were all qualified and reviewed independently by the This is Mcr judging panel presided over by chief judge Nazir Afzal, former Chief Crown Prosecutor for NW England. Ian Hindle, Dianne Oxberry's husband and founder and trustee of the Dianne Oxberry Trust charity, said: "We were blown away by the incredible people that were put forward for this special award and it was a really difficult decision to choose a winner. The amazing thing about Manchester is the sense of community and the huge number of people who do amazing things for others every day, often in the face of extreme challenges.
