A Rochdale pub landlord has spoken of his surprise after Manchester City star Rodri called into his boozer this week.
The Spanish international was spotted at The Bridge Inn in Edenfield Road, Norden, on Monday evening. During a brief visit, Rodri posed for a picture with customer Jack Samuels - an image the pub shared on its Facebook page, saying: "Some footballer and a happy customer."Mr Samuels said: "He seemed a really nice bloke. Wasn’t bothered at all that I’d asked for a photo and didn’t hesitate to say yes, but I apologised for disturbing him nonetheless."
Pub landlord Simon Britton, a keen United supporter, was out at the time but said he was 'gutted' to miss the footballer, who scored the winning goal as City lifted the Champions League in June. "I'd have got a photo of me in my United shirt with him," said Mr Britton. "I'm telling everyone he came to try our homemade onion rings but the kitchen was closed.Rodri's visit to The Bridge Inn came just over 24 hours after he took to the field in City's final pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid in South Korea on Sunday.
