A pensioner who repeatedly allowed waste to be dumped on his land causing risk to those nearby has been ordered repay hundreds of thousands of pounds.
He had no permit for the waste and allowed "hazardous, large scale, mixed household and commercial waste materials to be deposited at the sites" which the EA said caused unacceptable risks to the environment. This was seen in a number of significant fires at the site and numerous complaints from the public.
The court heard that Allison, of Southfield Lane, Burnley, raked in a huge £840,814 from his illegal waste activities. He was ordered to pay £368,682.50, based on the assets available to him.
