Manchester United needed two Paul Pogba penalties to return to winning ways with a laboured victory over West Ham at Old Trafford.
With the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona to come on Tuesday, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made five changes to his team and for much of the game they lacked fluidity, giving the ball away repeatedly in the first half in particular. Had Antonio put away either of his chances, which came within minutes of him being sent on from the bench, then not many would have argued the Hammers had not deserved to lead.
At Old Trafford on Saturday they impressed with Declan Rice excellent in midfield and Anderson and Lanzini threatening in attack. "They played better than us, it is fair to say, I don't think anyone will disagree. We got away with it. Sometimes we have lost when we should have won, so over a season it evens itself out.
Laboured Definitely conservative in the way they played.😂😂
still sub standard for the greatest club in the world-clear the decks in close season and rebuild properly
Makes sense.
man u.. done a good job
14 against 11 what a shit hole old trafford is about time something was done about these officials
Ah, a win is a win! Better than loosing?
2 penalties. How did that happen? Oh it’s MAN.UTD.
Marc_MuFc1 and you were saying 😂
Typical, referees will give man u a pen bit not Cardiff, guess they are more afraid of the mancs muareshit
West Ham were robbed...
I love the passion united boy had keep it up,
First penalty wasn’t a penalty and West Ham had a perfectly good goal disallowed!! West Ham should’ve won 2-1!! Corrupt officials yet again!
Change this headline to 'United gifted penalty in hard fort win.'
After denying Westhampton legit goal.
always easier when match officials are Man u fans!!
Did Utd win with that performance OMG 😮
united are back to their terrible best. Why on earth they thought Solskjear was the man to lead them glory, I will never know. The job is beyond him I feel
