Richard Keedwell 'simply wanted justice' but has lost his savings and his sons' inheritance money.

A man spent £30,000 of his savings on a failed legal battle"for justice" over a £100 speeding fine.

Retired engineer Mr Keedwell, of Yate near Bristol, claimed he"was certainly not doing more than 30mph" in New Road in November 2016. "I really could not believe that I had been speeding. It made a simple day out turn very sour actually."Mr Keedwell claimed he had"no case to answer" and recruited the help of a video and electronics expert who told the court the speed camera may have been triggered by a car in an adjacent lane or have been faulty.

This dear man wouldn’t be the first to fall into the trap of “having too many dollars, and not enough sense”....as my grandmother used to say.

The 'system' has always been an extortion racket. You lose if you pay, you lose if you fight.

His wife 😱

Heard him talking about this on the radio. What a prat.

pillock

When my kids get a bit older and ask me what ‘twat’ means, I’ll show them this guy

Tit

Pompous twit, should have given the money to charity if he clearly doesn't need it...

Idiot

This thread made my tiring day I swear - I love English Sarcasm! 😂😂

Nit

First world problems.

Brexit metaphor (doubt I am the first to say that...)

Well, that was stupid

I once spent £8 on the phone to an Irish toll company and a few hours of emails rather than just pay the £2.60 toll fee as it wasn't my car at the time of the fine. Matter of principals 🤣

Stonks baby

Bellend 🙈

Now he knows the cost of stupidity 😂😂😂

He's now been put in charge of Brexit negotiations.

If I were his family I'd be making appointments for him to see a psychiatrist and while he's in lock down for a month sell the house and piss off.....

Money well spent, take it Mr Fixit was out of his price range.

Siri define Brexit

Odds are he votes 'blue' in the elections.. Principals before common sense 🤣🤣

seane23 I could 100% imagine you doing this if it was a public transport fine

“Leave voter Richard Keedwell, 71, said...”

Plonker

At a 1st glance I thought it was Jeremy Clarkson. 🤣

Tit!

Sometimes proving what is right and correct is worth more than money.

35mph in a 30mph. Its simple. Pay the fine.

Must be rolling in it or just plain stupid

A fool and their money are soon parted

Most probably you can claim it on your expenses!!!

Brexit in a nutshell

clown

Thought he may have been called Boris.

Dom Cummings mate.

It's expensive to be stupid!

Hope he won!!!

What a womble

btcthoty

Why is the whole of Western society dismantling itself. Typical historical decadence? Or just a cyclical thing?

Lawyers will get you every time

It’s fine, he works for HS2 where they print tax payers money!

New meaning for the word 'stupid'

Lesson... never fight something 'on the principle'...

What a prat!

Obviously more money than sense

Scemo più scemo!!!

Tit

He should have used the Bill of Rights Act 1688 which states - That all Grants and Promises of Fines and Forfeitures of particular persons before Conviction are illegall and void.

It's his partner's fault, will be next in court I presume.

It was worth every penny.

Been better off ignoring it and subsequent bully boy bailiffs, its an unenforceable civil debt.

Not sure I would have spent the money, even if I had it, but totally understand why he did. Bless him.

The man's a prat.

And he expects what, exactly? Sympathy?

Don’t even going to cooment on this!

Maybe the false measurement is caused by 'trippel mirror' It happens when a laserbeam hits metal or other medium sized obstacles! 'Laser retuns in as a desultory order' and a false mesurement occure.

Idiot

Did he win?

Big brain

Spent ‘his son’s inheritance’ what a guy! 🤣

That wasn't very clever

silly pratt

Even as an accountant we are taught to consider the value of searching for a 1p. Same principle for spending £100! I haven't seen anything in the post to justify why he felt he didn't have a case or why he felt justified in spending £30000

I'm surprised he didn't use 'a matter of principle' in his defence. People usually apply the word principles to meaningless things.

Did he also vote Leave? 🙃🙄

If he had given me £30k, I would have paid the fine for him.

OVER SMARTNESS GETS YOU NOWHERE

You’ve got to spend money to... lose money.

Did he win?

There's principles and then there's Pyrrhic victories.

If that's how he wants to spend his money!

A fool and his money

But he added £30k to the UK economy....

Lacking judgement I'd say.

paging angrypiln

Doesn’t he know you’re guilty of a speeding charge until you prove your innocence? Which is of course impossible to do.

Should have got better lawyers!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

The barristers were spotted in pub after case ended😏✌️

Wow.

The only winners here are his legal team. Mug

1- white people problems 2- inheritance, something of yours your kid might get after you die

🤔

Take my hat of to you

Someone undertook me at speed some years ago, triggering a speed camera. I was within limit but still got a fine. I paid rather than contest it, but I admire this guys tenacity against big brother.
