Emergency services were called to Sefton Street in Southport this morning after a man was seen standing on the scaffolding of a house. Witnesses say he was "throwing tiles off the roof" and shouting "f*** off" to people on the ground within the police cordon.
Pictures from the scene showed damaged caused to a black car and white van inside the cordon. The vehicle windows were left smashed, the Echo reports.Merseyside fire and rescue service search and rescue unit and ambulance crews attended the scene along with police. Officers put tape up on Sefton Street, close to where it meets Virginia Street as they dealt with the incident.
A force spokesperson said: "We can confirm that emergency services are currently in attendance on Sefton Street, in Southport, due to a concern for safety of a man.After reportedly shouting at people within the cordon, and at police, the man came down off the roof at around 12.15pm. He was checked over by paramedics at the scene.
The road has since been opened and a clean up has commenced as roof tiles have been spotted on the floor surrounding the house.
