A woman wept in court as she was spared jail for throwing a gin glass and injuring a man she is now married to. Jodie Darby, 39, of Dodsley Way, Clipstone, sobbed in the dock as she was sentenced for assault, causing bodily harm - which happened during an argument.
The victim needed surgery to his left ear after he was cut with a gin glass, which was seen on CCTV, in the garden area of the andwhynot pub in Mansfield on March 20 last year. In interview, she said she thought she threw it - but alcohol meant she did not remember. She accepted it was reckless and excessive force, and was immediately apologetic. Recorder King told her, at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday , she was someone, until this matter arose, of good character."There is substantial mitigation which I take into account," he said. "You express immediate remorse and pleaded guilty from the outset, or at least, from an early stage.
The judge gave her eight months in prison, suspended for two years, 60 hours of unpaid work, and ten rehabilitation activity days.
