Detectives are appealing for witnesses

after a man was killed in a serious assault in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to Queensbury London Underground station at 12.03am after ‘an altercation’ took place. The victim suffered a serious head injury and despite the best efforts of medical staff, sadly died a short time after arriving in hospital.His family have been informed and are currently being supported by specially trained officers, police said.DI Darren Gough said: ‘We are at the early stages of our investigation and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or the events leading up to it to contact us as soon as possible.
