A 60-year-old from Watford has been jailed after being found guilty of historical sexual offences against a child. Following a trial at St Albans Crown Court, Sabaratnam Arulsikamani of Water Lane was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child, which related to a young teenage girl in 2011. He was sentenced to seven and a half years' prison and will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Detective Sergeant Marc Willmore, from the constabulary’s non-recent child abuse investigation team, said: “My team investigates historical cases of child abuse, which for many different reasons are not reported at the time. “This investigation and the result achieved from court shows that no matter how long ago the offence took place, or what your circumstances are, these types of allegations will be investigated thoroughly and diligently.” He continued: “Becoming a victim of sexual assault is never your fault and if you’ve been a victim please report it. We have specialist officers on hand to provide advice and support throughout an investigation.” Any victims or people who think a child is being abused should report it to police immediately, DS Willmore added. A report can be made in confidence. We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issue
