Man dies after being struck by car involved in police chase in West Yorkshire

A man has died after being struck by a car involved in a police pursuit in West Yorkshire.

Police confirmed the incident started when officers in a marked vehicle tried to stop a Peugeot 307 car in East Ardsley, near Leeds, shortly after 5pm on Tuesday. The driver of the car failed to stop and a pursuit began, which ended three miles later when the vehicle crashed into a wall and overturned.Flowers have been laid at the scene

Eyewitnesses, who did not wish to be named, said police were initially unaware that during the crash a male pedestrian had been struck and thrown into a garden.It was only when a member of the public informed the officers about the man that they went to his aid and began to administer CPR.
