Man City make FA Cup history by beating Newcastle United to secure semi-final place

The win kept alive City's hopes of retaining the treble they won last season, as they look to become the first ever team to win back-to-back trebles.City will appear in an FA Cup semi-final for a sixth season in a row, a feat never achieved before. The last campaign City did not reach the semi-finals of the competition was 2017-18, when Guardiola's centurion side suffered a shock fifth round defeat to Wigan Athletic.City have lost three of their last five FA Cup semi-finals, including three consecutive losses in 2020, 2021 and 2022.Last season saw them break their last-four curse by beating Sheffield United 3-0, before defeating arch-rivals Manchester United 2-1 in the final.
