Manchester City season ticket prices have gone up but it is still cheaper to watch a game at the Etihad than it is Old Trafford. So what?

Manchester City fans laugh as every FFP update is greeted by fans of other clubs with the same, tired response: What about City?

Because other clubs have raised prices, or are more expensive, that is enough for some fans to be happy with their own prices going up. It wasn't anything like a majority online but there were still far too many comments on Tuesday justifying an increase at the Etihad on the basis that it was cheaper or better value than at Old Trafford.

Instead, City are doing exactly what any other club is doing with the justification that every other club is doing it. It was a similar logic that saw them sign up to the European Super League before backtracking after a huge backlash from supporters and grovelling about how important the fans were. The club don't feel the need to reassure supporters over the changes or listen to multiple fan groups calling on them to freeze prices is telling. Giving a small renewal window over Easter and upping the minimum number of league games where fans are required to attend from 10 to 14 also adds to the pressure.
