Two people have been arrested on a total of eight outstanding warrants between them as police launched a crackdown on serious crime in the Inverclyde area. A 47-year-old man, with six outstanding warrants, was taken into custody along with a 47-year-old woman, who was said to have two outstanding warrants. It followed "pro-active patrols" by officers from Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Police in Greenock.
The police operation was aimed at tackling its local policing priority of serious and organised crime and drug dealing. The two arrested suspects were detained during the operation in Cathcart Street, Greenock. Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Police said on Twitter: “In working to tackle our local policing priority of Serious and Organised Crime and Drug Dealing, officers carried out pro-active patrols in Cathcart Street, Greenock. A 47 year old male was arrested on 6 outstanding warrants and a 47 year old female was arrested on 2.”
