A man appeared in court on Monday accused of assaulting his partner and kicking his neighbour’s dog “squarely in the face”.
Objecting to Owens being granted bail, PSNI Constable Comiskey outlined how police were called at around 5am on May 4 “to an ongoing disturbance on Donegore Drive in Antrim”. Alerted by screams “for someone to call the police,” the woman’s neighbour came outside but Owens is alleged to have thrown tins of beer at her kitchen window, picked up the black bins and emptied the contents and is also alleged to have “kicked her small dog squarely in the face”.
Sporting a plaster across his visibly swollen nose as well as other injuries to his face, Owens repeatedly claimed the two woman had made withdrawal statements and while defence counsel Grant Powles said the understood that to be the case, Const. Comiskey said the alleged withdrawals “have not reached this department”.
