A 70 year-old man who was seriously injured in a collision with a Land Rover died in hospital, police confirmed.
But in an update on Friday, Greater Manchester Police said he sadly passed away a short time later despite the best attempts of medics. He hasn't been named, but police sent their condolences to his family and friends.The driver of the Land Rover, a 29-year-old man, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He was interviewed by detectives and released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
In a statement, GMP said: "The pedestrian, a 70-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries and sadly passed away from his injuries a short time later despite the best attempts of medical professionals. Detective Constable Carl Boydell said: "Since we responded to this incident and initially appealed to the public shortly after, the pedestrian involved in this road traffic collision has now sadly passed away. Our thoughts are with their loved ones and friends at this time.
