I found the article about the National Trust’s project to raise awareness of the issue of loneliness quite ironic . When my husband died 18 months ago and left me, as a non-driver, without access to a car, I had to cancel my membership of the National Trust, as there are very few of their properties that are easily accessible by public transport, particularly if one wants to complete a visit as a day trip, rather than spend a night away from home.
