The government has been urged to consider making it compulsory for vulnerable children to go to school during the Covid-19 lockdown, as it emerged that teachers were making hundreds of phone calls a week to keep track of at-risk pupils.
I do not feel confident sending my foster children to school We live rural and they currently have no contact to others than via video call. Why would I want them mixing at school with others when in the peak of a pandemic?
Say what? No kid should be in school right now.
Do they know for certain it’s safe for all those people to mix in close proximity? Teachers, administrators, cleaners, parents, bus drivers, cooks...
Who is doing the urging?
Again, weeks behind the rest of Europe.
Tricky. Some children in vulnerable health groups, some in their household in vulnerable health groups. Same with foster carer families/households.
Errm... You do understand that going to school puts these children (and their parents) at risk of covid, right? Some Guardian you are, throwing the most vulnerable under the bus.
The government need to start being honest and telling people the truth-death rates are lower than in 2018-and build confidence from the truth
Somebody fire No. 10.
I have children who are classed as vulnerable, they are LA and have EHCPs..am I sending them to school? Hell no...As a foster carer, I too have a duty of care to keep them safe at home until scientific studies advise the government all children are safe to return to school.
If it is made compulsory it isnt just the children that become a risk of spread of infection. If even just one child attends for a day, the cleaning crew that is licensed, the school kitchen staff & Office administration would be required to enter the premises too.
Yeah, good luck with that.
Wow like they coordinated it or somethin’!? Harvard U prof. says same thing... Gee! what a coinkydink! GreatAwakening
How do you measure vulnerable It’s subjective As usual a middle class response to a problem
sure thing, but NOT now
