American rock band, The Strokes, took to the stage at Lytham Festival last night , and wowed crowds of 20,000 as they headlined one of only two UK shows this summer.
Performing a 90-minute set Julian Julian Casablancas and his bandmates rocked out on The Green during the extended festival. Special guests Fontaines DC performed a storming set following support spots from cult twosome Wet Leg and punk outfit The Lounge Society. Formed in 1998, the band is composed of singer Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr, bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti. They were a leading group of the early-2000s indie rock revival.Lytham festival began on June 28 and saw performances from acts including Lewis Capaldi and Diana Ross. It is now in part two, which started on Wednesday with a set from Simple Red.

Over the years, headliners have varied massively over the years. Acts have ranged from the likes of Billy Ocean, Tom Jones, Faithless, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds to Bryan Adams.
