An incident where a lorry shed its load on a Nottinghamshire street - forcing its closure for hours - was an accident waiting to happen, residents have said. Two flatbed lorries carrying large loads were cordoned off in Thackeray's Lane just past its junction with Fisher Avenue in Woodthorpe on Tuesday, May 30.
"The company is aware of an incident. We are currently investigating and are unable to comment further until this investigation is complete," read a statement by the firm.Residents around the area of the two incidents said lorries frequently used the route to transport parts of factory built homes to a 131-house development off Rolleston Drive. ilke Homes, which is delivering the homes, has been approached for comment.
Jacqueline Shaw, who was visiting her mum near Thackeray's Lane at the time of the first incident, said: "It was just a matter of time. When you get big trucks coming up places like this accidents are bound to happen, they're just too big for these roads. "The guys are really careful going past here but it's so narrow," said a man who didn't wish to be named. "I've always said something was going to happen but it's been fine up to now.
