Motorists in Ormskirk are being warned to expect six weeks of delays as temporary traffic lights are installed at an accident hot spot junction.
Once up and running, the cameras will detect both those who pass through red lights and those who drive through green lights above the speed limit. The work involves installing cameras at nine locations around the two junctions, with one camera covering each approach.Work is due to begin next week and could last for up to six weeks, according to Lancashire County Council. The authority has published notice of the planned works which explain temporary traffic lights will be installed.
While that is only a little over three weeks, a letter to residents explains the work is likely to last around double that. It says: "Work is planned to commence on Monday 16 October 2023 and is expected to last approxiamtely six weeks." The letter also explains that the Hayfield junction will be completed first before work moves to Fiveways.
